These are the main ways to log in from off-campus to gain access to library materials available to Dickinson students, faculty, and staff.

  • Log in to Gateway. Many library resources will recognize you as a Dickinson user if you are already logged in to Gateway on your computer using the same web browser.
  • Use library links. Access the materials through links on the library website, if you are able.  This will ensure that library systems recognize you as a Dickinson user and prompt you for your Dickinson login, when required.
    • If you're using the library database list, JumpStart or journals and newspapers list to get to an item, you are probably using the correct links.
    • If you found the item via Google or another free search engine, you might not be using Dickinson links.  Try links from the database listJumpStart or journals and newspapers list to gain access.
    • Library links to online resources usually have "dickinson.idm.oclc.org" in the URL.  If you don't see this in the web address in your browser, it could be a sign that you're not accessing the item via Dickinson.
      • If you don't see "dickinson.idm.oclc.org" in the URL, try adding the prefix https://dickinson.idm.oclc.org/login?url= to the URL for the item you are trying to access.  For examlpe, if you are trying to access an article at this URL: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/tea.21750, enter this into your web browser: https://dickinson.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/tea.21750.

If you regularly use Google Scholar, we recommend that you also configure "Full Text at Dickinson" links in that system, using the instructions linked below.

Finally, if you wish to create a direct link to online library resources including books, book chapters, streaming films, and articles that you can share on Moodle or via email, etc., see our instructions below for Linking to Library Resources.
