To learn when the library receives new material on a specific topic, you can save a search for that topic and turn on email notifications for when new results are added.
First, sign in to your library account to save searches, using your Dickinson log in. If you forget to sign in before you perform your search, you will be prompted to sign in to save your search.
Once you have completed your search, look for the thumbtack icon near the number of search results and click on it to save your search to your favorites. You can also save individual resources to review later, with the thumbtack icon next to individual search results.
You should see a notification at the top of the page that your save was successful.
Click on "Turn on notifications for this query" from the successful save message to activate notifications for the saved search.
You can also turn on (or off) your search notifications from “My Favorites.” Click on the thumbtack at the top of the page, near “Sign In” to go to your favorites.
From “My Favorites,” you can access your saved searches, resources, and your history of searches performed while logged in to your account. You can also save searches from your search history by clicking on the thumbtack next to the search.
If you would like to receive email notifications when new results are available for a search, navigate to your saved searches and click on the bell icon next to any saved search for which you would like to receive notifications.
After you click the bell icon, you should again see a notification at the top of the screen that the action was successful and that notifications will be sent to your Dickinson email. You can change the email address, if you wish, from this notification. In your saved search list, the bell icon next to a search with notifications turned on will be visually different from those with notifications off.
Click on the “notifications on” bell icon to turn off an alert when you no longer wish to receive notifications about new results for the search. You can also click on the thumbtack next to the bell to remove any searches you no longer wish to save.
Contact your librarian for help with any of these steps or for help with refining your searches.
